In The Chair With........ Myles Lewis.
OK TODAY WERE TALKING TO MYLES LEWIS, MYLES IS THE BRAINS BEHIND THE GUERRILLA BARBERING TEAM AND CURRENTLY WORKS IN SHENFIELD / UPMINSTER AT BRADS BARBERS, MYLESBEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER CAN YOU TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOURSELF PLEASE.
I'm Myles Lewis, I live in Essex, I am a Barber with big plans for myself, my family and our industry!
SO YOUR 27YEARS OLD MATE AND YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY FOR 2YEARS, WHAT WAS IT THAT FIRST CAUGHT YOUR EYE ABOUT THE INDUSTRY YOUR WORKING IN TODAY.
The freedom of it, I used to be in Marketing and Sales from the age of 17 and to be honest the office environment is defo not for me. I had a chance to be creative and make people feel good, so I grabbed my oppertunity with both hands and here I am!
SO GUERRILLA BARBERING CAN YOU TELL US WHO ELSE IS INVOLVED IN IT AND WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT PLEASE MATE.
Guerrilla Barbering is a collective of Barbers that want to make people who are less fortunate than us lives abit easier.
We do events to raise awareness and funds for our chosen charities.
The team is Myself - Founder... Luke Hammond - Co Founder... Chris Austin and Sam Campagna who are also co- founders. We also have 2 amazing ambassadors Nathan Bradbury and Greg Mcerlane.
AUGUST 14TH 2015 MUST HAVE BEEN A PRETTY BIG DAY FOR YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO WAS INVOLVED AS THIS WAS THE DAY YOU AND THE OTHER GUERRILLAS HIT THE STREETS OF LONDON, CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT THE DAY ITS SELF THE PEOPLE YOU MET AND THE RESPONSE YOU GOT FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Yeah the day was an incredible success!
I don't want to bore you with all the details but we had amazing feedback from the public and Barbers along with great media coverage. For me and the team it ended up an 23hour day but was worth every minute! We can't wait for the next 2 events this year, raising money and awareness of what we do and being able to give back is very humbling.
I GUESS SOCIAL MEDIA IS A PRETTY BIG THING TO HELP YOU GUYS PROPEL THE GUERRILLA BARBERING WORD OUT TO THE MASSES, FIRSTLY HOW IMPORTANT IS SOCIAL MEDIA TO YOU AND SECONDLY CAN YOU TELL US WHERE WE CAN FIND YOU AND HOPEFULLY THROUGH BARBER BANTER WE CAN CONTINUE SPREADING THE WORD.
Social media is pinnacle, wihout it our jobs would be incredibly harder! Thanks to groups like yours we now have a go-to hub of info where we can all share ideas and promote ourselves!

OK STEPPING AWAY FROM THE GUERRILLA BARBERING FOR A MOMENT BUT STAYING ON TRACK, THE INDUSTRY IS CURRENTLY BOOMING WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ANYONE LOOKING AT STARTING A CAREER AS A BARBER.
When an oppertunity arises grab it with both hands, don't let your ego make you arrogant to learning... No one in this world is 100% at anything so always be willing to let someone else educate you.
AS WELL AS AN INFLUX OF BARBERS ENTERING THE INDUSTRY THERE ARE SOME FANTASTIC PRODUCTS OUT THERE NOW, WHATS YOUR PERSONAL FAVORITE AT THE MOMENT MATE AND IF YOU COULD CREATE YOUR OWN BRAND WHAT WOULD YOU INCLUDE IN IT
The best products for me is a hybrid of different brands... The reformulated Dapper Dan Matt Clay and Pomade are a game changer without a doubt! The newly released Reuzel line is insane... I also love ADH Dry. Fudge do amazing hair sprays from Sky Scraper to Membrane Gas and the Hairbond full range is very very good aswell.
I use an exclusive brand to Brads Barbers called Noble - Gentlemans Grooming, this has a couple of brilliant products that I mainly use for pre blowdry styling... Creative Cream and their Sea Salt Spray.
OK MYLES ONE OF THE HOT TOPICS OF DISCUSSION OF LATE IT STATE REGISTRATION, NOW I SEE YOU DON'T HAVE THOSE LETTERS SRB BEHIND YOUR NAME, CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ARE ON STATE REGISTRATION PLEASE.
It's hard for me to really have any say over.... It's good as the industry needs regulation for the blatant benfits but on the other hand a bad barber can get registered either way so it seems obsolete in my mind.
RIGHT I'M A REALIST MATE AND I KNOW THAT ITS NOT ALWAYS ROSEY IN EVERYONE'S GARDEN, CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT (IF ANYTHING) MAKES MYLES LEWIS GO APE (YES I KNOW I DESEREVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE THERE FOR THE APE JOKE.............THANKS EVERYONE.)
Rude people, unreasonable arrogance and industry sheep.
SO MYLES I'M GUESSING THE EVENT LAST AUGUST ISN'T JUST GOING TO BE A ONE OF EVENT, AND IN THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED WAY OF SAVING THE BEST TILL LAST CAN YOU TELL US WHAT WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE FUTURE FOR BOTH YOURSELF AND THE GUERRILLA BARBERS WITH YOUR FIVE YEAR PLAN PLEASE MATE.
This year

August the 28th - Shoreditch
I can say no more...... ✌️
